Manchester United have reportedly been given a fillip in their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski after new Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola hinted he may drop his interest in the Borussia Dortmund striker.

Guardiola gave his first press conference on Monday after officially beginning duties as Bayern Munich boss, and arrives at the Allianz Arena amid strong claims they Champions League winners are chasing Lewandowski.

According to talkSPORT, Guardiola gave an indication that Bayern may decide against recruiting Lewandowski and instead focus on nurturing the talent already available to the club following their Treble winning campaign last season.

Lewandowski had appeared set to secure a transfer to Munich at the end of last term, but Dortmund have been reluctant to allow the Poland international to join the Bavarians following the move of Mario Götze.
