Rafael reckons new boss David Moyes can make his mark at Manchester United — by ending their 10-year FA Cup drought. The club last lifted the famous trophy in 2004.
And full-back Rafael says the man tasked with filling Alex Ferguson’s shoes at Old Trafford must bag it next season.
He said: “The focus will be on winning the league, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup.
“It has been a long time since we won the FA Cup, so we should be really focused to win it again.”
In the other news, Alex Buttner has revealed he almost walked away from Manchester United after becoming homesick.
The Holland defender had a successful debut season at Old Trafford following his £4million move from Vitesse Arnhem last summer.
But left-back Buttner, 24, has struggled to settle in the upmarket Cheshire village of Alderley Edge.
He grew up on a travellers’ camp in Holland and missed his family setting so badly he considered going home.
Buttner said:
“I now know about homesickness.
“I’d think about my family and friends at home many times.
“How they were, what they were doing, little things like that.
“But I did not give up and I have my girlfriend Laura and brother Denny to thank for that.
“They were always there for me in England. I could call on them any time. I needed their warmth.
“I’m a fighter. But had I been on my own, I’d have got on a plane back to Holland a long time ago.”
