Ruud Urges Rooney To Quit Old Trafford

RUUD AWAKENING ... Van Nistelrooy with Rooney in 2005
RUUD VAN NISTELROOY has urged Wayne Rooney to quit Manchester United — if he is not 100 per cent committed to the club. Departing boss Alex Ferguson claimed the England striker had slapped in a transfer request before the end of the season.

New manager David Moyes will attempt to persuade Rooney, 27, to stay at Old Trafford.
But Van Nistelrooy, who left the Red Devils for Real Madrid in 2006, says his former strike partner must decide his own fate.

The ex-United hitman, 36, said: “It is a matter of how he feels.
“If he feels he is committed to the club I think there is an opening.
“If he says otherwise I don’t think there is a future for him, but it is up to him.
“I think the fans would love him to stay but it depends on the commitment.
“If he is fully here everyone loves him but when he is not fully committed it is probably better to move on.”
