The Japanese ace joined United from Borussia Dortmund last summer in a £12million deal. And despite scoring six goals - including a hat-trick against Norwich - and landing the Premier League title in his debut campaign, the 24-year-old reckons he could have done much better.

Kagawa said: “I wasn’t satisfied with my overall performance but I played well in the second half of the season and started to get more and more confidence.
“Hopefully, I can keep that going at the Confederations Cup.”

Kagawa hopes to emulate team-mates Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie in the coming season and prove he has what it takes to star at Old Trafford.
He added: “In this business, you need to be like Rooney or Van Persie and prove yourself if you want the ball.

“I want to be a player like them, which means I need results.”
