David Moyes First Manchester United Match Began With A 0-1 Defeat To Singha All-Star XI

David Moyes First Manchester United match began with a whimper as the Premier League champions lost in Thailand.

The Reds began pre seaon with a loss to Singha All Star XI
Moyes, taking charge of United for the first time, saw Teeratep Winothai’s 50th-minute strike seal victory for the Singha All-Star XI in Bangkok. And to make matters worse, the Scot was given an injury scare as Alex Buttner was taken off with a hamstring injury.

United were overwhelming favourites for this friendly match but the All-Star XI had the first chance in front of a 65,000 sell-out crowd. Home skipper captain Winothai streaked through on goal but was pipped at the crucial moment by Jonny Evans.

Winothai had a second chance to break the deadlock when Ben Amos pulled out a cracking save to deny him just before the break. But it was third time lucky for the Thai when he struck after the interval. He picked up the ball in the box and saw his scuffed shot creep past Amos.

Moyes sent Wilfried Zaha into action in a Manchester United shirt for the first time in a triple substitution on the hour mark. He replaced Giggs, while Jesse Lingard and Phil Jones came on for Ryan Giggs and Anderson. And it nearly did the trick — but Zaha saw his late shot cannon back off the post.

MAN UNITED: Amos, Fabio, Ferdinand, Evans, Buttner (Rafael), Cleverley (Jones), Carrick, Anderson (Lingard), Giggs (Zaha), Januzaj, Welbeck.
