Fellaini: Joining One Of The Biggest Club In The World Is A Dream Move
Marouane Fellaini has described his deadline-day move to
Manchester United as a 'dream', and hopes to repay David Moyes' faith in
him by joining the long list of greats at Old Trafford.
Speaking
to the media for the first time since his summer transfer from Everton,
the Belgian praised his former club, but says he now wants to win
silverware with the Reds. Fellaini said: "I came here to win
trophies. For me, it's a dream to join the biggest club in the world. I
need to work hard for my place - there are a lot of good players. I need
to show my ability, I'll keep focused. I want to help the team and give
everything. I know the manager and the quality of the players here,
it's good for me to help me play well here.
"I will prove myself
on the pitch. Some people don't like my qualities, but I don't care. The
manager, staff and players here know me. The manager gave me confidence
[when he signed him at Everton]. I didn't know anyone, but he helped
me."
The midfielder also spoke highly of his previous employers,
and expressed his relief at completing the late deal, which enabled him
to make the switch to the Reds. Fellaini added: "With Everton and
the chairman, we never knew about the deal. Sometimes, I thought there
was no chance, but in the end I was so happy to join United. I talked
with the manager, because it was a big opportunity to join one of the
biggest clubs in the world.
"Of course, United want big players, but the main thing was for me to
stay fit and wait until the end of the window. Everton was a great club
for me, great team-mates and great moments. I respect the fans but it
was time for me to leave. "I've found the intensity of training to
be a step up from Everton. United are a big team with big players, and
Everton were a great team too. But the difference is that United have
won trophies."
The 25-year-old Belgian is confident that he can play in several roles, and is looking forward to the challenge. "I can play defensive or attacking - whatever helps the team. The most important thing is to win the game."
